PALLIATIVE CARE - INSTITUTION AND BEYOND
A Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled “Palliative Care - Institution and Beyond” was held on 9th April 2026 by the Department of Anaesthesiology and Medicine at The Oxford Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre.
The CME explored the paradigm shift in healthcare, emphasizing palliative care and hospice as a gift of dignity, comfort, and quality of life rather than viewing it as giving up on treatment.
This approach highlights how compassionate care can transform the experience of advanced illness and aging by focusing on patient dignity, comfort, and family support.
Key Focus Areas
- Holistic approach to palliative care
- Ethical decision-making in advanced illness
- Quality of life improvement for patients and families
- Integration of palliative care into clinical practice
